It's Holiday Party Season again and I wanted to share some great tips I found for you to host a stress-free party this year! Plus, There is no need to spend a fortune to decorate for the holidays instead be a little creative and turn your house into a winter wonderland!

Make a List

Perhaps the ultimate way to create a stress-free holiday is to live by a list. Plan ahead, and don't be afraid to delegate. "Know what you're capable and comfortable doing and give other people things to do," says Kathy Gunst, culinary expert and author of Relax, Company's Coming!and co-author of Stonewall Kitchen Harvest. Asking guests to help with a party-related task makes them feel more involved, so never be afraid to ask.

Candy Bar

Who doesn't love candy? Create a "candy store" on an entry or side table with jars in various sizes. Fill them with colorful taffy, chocolates and gummies, and put scoops and small baggies on the table. Plus, candy has a long shelf life (especially individually wrapped kinds), so you can enjoy the look all season long.

Wrap Gifts Early

Use holiday gifts you will be giving this season as décor in your home before you give them. Make them beautiful, and enjoy them yourself for as long as you can." Choose a coordinated group of papers, bows, and ornaments that look great in your home, and stack them throughout your house on side tables.

Dress Up Your Cocktails

Instead of plain ice cubes to keep drinks cool, place grapes and cranberries in your freezer now, so that come party time, you can use a couple of frozen fruits to add a quick and thoughtful touch to a cocktail or sparkling water. The shapes add dimension, color, and something to chew on when that delicious libation is swirling over your tongue.

Deck the Halls

Monica Gullon, former caterer, food editor and frequent entertainer, suggests going with the unexpected. "Bowls of vintage ornaments (from your family's collection or a flea market) grouped by color or glass bowls filled with white twinkle lights can both look striking. Or place a bare branch in a vase and hang small ornaments from it."

As for your exterior, you don't need a house encrusted in twinkle lights to make an impact. Try a single stand-out wreath, potted evergreens, or a big bow on the front door.

Famed bridal designer Monique Lhuillier, who has dressed celebrity brides such as Reese Witherspoon, Carrie Underwood, Pink, and Alicia Silverstone, unveiled her newest bridal 2012 collection recently. Lhuillier named each of the gowns with a woman’s name, as she typically does, but we noticed something interesting this time around. Two of the looks in her new lineup have names with a royal ring to them—Catherine and Pippa! The “Catherine” gown, right, looks fit for a princess with long sleeves, a high neckline, and an all-over lace approach. The “Pippa” dress, left, looks like it could be for a bridesmaid or maid of honor (and Pippa Middleton is the maid of honor at sister Catherine’s nuptials) with a short hemline and a more body-hugging silhouette.

Did you take a good look at the bouquet Catherine Middleton‘s carried along with her Alexander McQueen gown and Cartier tiara? Vera Wang commented on CNN that she loved it because it didn’t overpower the dress, and there’s a reason why. Middleton chose the flowers because of their special meanings—she carried Lily of the valleys to symbolize the return of happiness; Sweet William flowers for gallantry; hyacinths for constancy of love; ivy for fidelity, marriage, friendship and affection; and myrtle, the emblem of marriage and love. The myrtle is actually from a plant that Queen Victoria planted in 1845, and was also used in the bouquet of Queen Elizabeth’s wedding in 1947.

South Africa Anyone?!?!

Lion Sands Private Game Reserve: Brad shared an incredible safari experience and overnight dates at this luxury reserve in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A southern tradition....The Groom's Cake!

The Groom's cake is a long-standing tradition in the south and a fun gift a bride can give her groom! Think back to a scene in "Steel Magnolias" where all the women are having a discussion about a red and gray cake in the shape of an armadillo. That armadillo was the groom's cake Shelby was planning to give her husband-to-be.

The groom's cake is typically smaller than the wedding cake and is decorated to reflect a particular hobby or interest of the groom. My husband is a huge Boston Red Sox fan so when we got married I went with a Red Sox themed grooms cake & he loved it...so did all the other Red Sox fans at our wedding!

Here's a little history of the "Groom's Cake"....The groom's cake was not to be served to the guests while at the wedding reception, but rather it was to be sliced up, placed into packages and given to them as favors when they departed. Single women at the wedding would take their pieces of cake home and sleep with it under their pillows in hopes of dreaming of their future husbands.

While groom's cakes are a tradition in the south, elsewhere it is really a matter of preference. There is no rule, but if you want to add a sentimental touch to your wedding day, then honor your groom with his own cake. It is a sweet gesture that will give your guests something extra to talk about.

A low-riding ponytail gets an elegant upgrade when balanced with volume at the crown. N.Y.C hairstylist Giannandrea blow-dried Mendes's hair and wrapped it around Velcro rollers. Afert releasing, he side parted the hair to create bangs, brushing the rest into a ponytail. He then teased sections with hairspray, anchoring them with bobby pins.

Scarlett Johansson
Babaii transformed Johansson's shoulder-length hair into a style worthy of a modern-day Grace Kelly—ideal with a skin baring gown. He started by spritzing David Babaii for Wildaid Bohemian Beach Spray on the roots before he curled her hair into allover ringlets. Next, he backcombed the hair, diminishing the tight curls but keeping the body, and swept it across the nape of the neck to one side. Freeing a 2-inch section of hair in the front, he secured the rest with bobby pins. Babaii shaped the loose hair into a few big waves with a 1-inch curling iron, using a firm hold hairspray to set.

Ellen Pompeo
To create this "sexy and understated" chignon, Harry Josh, creative consultant for John Freida Collection, washed Pompeo's hair with Weather Works by Frizz-Ease from John Freida before blowing dry 2-inch sections. Once dry, he built up volume at the crown by spraying Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray from John Freida while backcombing the hair. Josh pulled the hair into a disheveled side bun 2 inches behind Pompeo's ear and secured it with bobby pins

Penelope Cruz
For this classic half-up look, N.Y.C. stylist Danilo misted a voluminizing spray on Cruz's roots before blowing the hair dry with a mixed bristle brush. To create body and texture, he used a 2" iron and set the sections by pin-curling them. Next, he gathered the top section of hair and backcombed it for extra height. He secured the upper-section with a bobby pin and let the rest fall free, while taming flyaways.

Jessica Alba
L.A. stylist Robert Ramos diffused Alba's hair to coax out its natural wave. Next, he gave her a center part, sectioned off hair from either side of the head and French-braided it. He made smaller plaits from her bottom layer of hair, wrapping them back toward the center and pinning them. "At the back of the head, the braids should be intertwined," he explains.

This wedding was amazing, down to every last little detail! Being the daughter of Donald Trump you can only image the kind of event that would be thrown when his first born daughter got married! The Wedding
Following their 3-month engagement, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner tied the knot on Sunday October 25, 2009 at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. Before her nuptials, the bride tweeted, " "Everything is simply perfect! I'm getting married today!"

The Gown
Trump wore a custom designed Vera Wang gown inspired by Grace Kelly for her walk down the aisle. She accessorized her big day look with jewels from her eponymous jewelry line and carried an all-white bouquet, which featured stephanotis.

The Reception
After the "I Dos," the newlyweds celebrated with 500 guests at the wedding reception. Preston Bailey, who also planned Donald Trump and Melania Knauss' 2007 wedding, helped Trump and Kushner pull off their fall affair.

The Love Story
Back in the summer of 2009 before the couple announced their engagement, Trump told New York magazine, "Jared and I are very similar in that we're very ambitious. That's what makes it so amazing to be in a relationship with someone who is supportive of that."

This was such a fun wedding to be apart of! It was held at the Grandfather of the brides private residence, Scimitar Ranch in Anacortes,WA. This is by far one of the most amazing property we've ever held a wedding reception at. The ceremony took place at St. Mary's in Anacortes with the reception to follow at the ranch. They held cocktail hour at the main lodge with a signature martin, "The Mermaid Martini" which was a big hit. Ciao Thyme out did themselves again with outstanding appetizers for the cocktail hour. As the guest enjoyed the live jazz music, cocktails & appetizers things were in full swing at the reception site...the bride and groom went with a Mediterranean style street market buffet, which was a huge hit! The food did not only taste amazing the presentations was art. Once the bride and groom arrived the party really began. It was such a unique wedding to be apart of and Jennifer and Christopher were such fun couple too.We wish the newlyweds a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness! Heather and John got married July 25th at Juntunen Farm & Gardens, our primer venue, and what an amazing wedding it was! The day started out hot, hot, hot...that's something we aren't us to here in the northwest, but the sun was out! Heather was a great bride to work with and was very much in to every little detail...she had one of the most beautiful seating chats we have ever seen! With drinks and appetizers served before the ceremony in one of the many gardens at Juntunen the guest were able to explore the gardens well visiting with each other. At 6 o'clock the ceremony began along with a very rare thunder and lighting storm...it added a little excitement to the ceremony! Ciao Thyme did an amazing job with the food and the bride & groom picked a very Northwest menu, which was served "family style"...always fun! Michele M. Tips for Summer Flowers

Choose hearty flowers
Opt for flowers that will stay fresh throughout the entire day. Look for ones with a waxy texture to ensure staying power. Hawaiian blooms, such as orchids, are a great option (check out cymbidium and dendrobium orchids). Ginger halcyons, birds-of-paradise, tiger lilies, and even roses will champion high temperatures too. Buying local flowers is another way to go; blooms that are in season in your area will more likely survive a long day in a bouquet. Check with your florist to see which ones will work for your venue.

Maintain your blooms
When it comes to wedding flowers, the higher the temperature, the more upkeep they'll require. Have them delivered the day of the wedding and make sure there's a refrigerator on-site to store them before the ceremony starts. Also, be mindful of your flowers during photography sessions. When your photographer isn't snapping away, have a friend or bridesmaid hold your bouquet in a shady spot, or place it in a vase of cool water. If your blooms will be exposed to the summer heat for an extended amount of time, keep a spray water bottle on hand and give your flowers a light misting every hour or so.

Opt for bright and bold colors
For the color of your flowers, check out which flowers will be in bloom around your ceremony and reception site, and consider bold versions of those hues. For an outdoor or semiformal wedding, think violet, hot fuchsia, mango, magenta, and green. Wine colors and deeper shades are appropriate for formal weddings, like dark red roses or deep purple lilies. When it comes to casual weddings, sunflowers are a great option since you only need a few to create a vibrant pop of color.

Choose the right centerpieces
You have plenty of summer centerpiece arrangements to choose from. If you're having a formal ballroom wedding, go for tall vases overflowing with a mix of bold and deep-hued flowers accented with feathers or gems. To create a modern vibe, display monochromatic green, orange, or even yellow blooms in clear Lucite containers. For an outdoor wedding, consider wooden containers filled with colorful, locally grown flowers. During the cocktail hour, daisies in simple Mason jars will perk up the space. Or look into potted centerpieces so guests can take them home as favors.

TIP: Summer brides -- beware of oversized bouquets. A smaller, hand-tied bouquet will hold up in the heat better than a full, cascading one.

Festive drinks are always a big hit at any holiday party. Whether you go with a classic drink like homemade Eggnog and spiced cider, or want to mix it up with more complex blend like a Pumpkin Pie-Tini, holiday drinks are fun to experiment with and to serve to your guests. Here are a few festive drink recipes to try this season.

Happy Holidays Everyone ...from Creative Celebrations!

Winter White Cosmo

1 1/2 ounces Stoli Cranberry vodka
1/2 ounce Cointreau
1 ounce lime juice
1 ounce white cranberry juice
3 frozen cranberries, to garnish
Combine ingredients over ice in a shaker. Shake and strain into chilled martini glass. Float 3 or 4 frozen cranberries on top.

Poinsettia

1 scoop ice
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
4 ounces champagne
2 ounces cranberry juice
Squeeze of lemon
Build in a cylindrical or stemmed glass, in above order. Just before serving, top with the cranberry juice so it will float to the bottom of the champagne and Triple Sec. Garnish with large straw and lemon squeeze.

Naughty Milk

¾ ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
¾ ounce coffee liqueur (Starbuck’s preferred)
2 tablespoons hot chocolate mix
4 ounces hot water
Whipped cream
Chocolate sprinkles
Peppermint stick (optional)
Use an 8 ½- or 9-ounce stemmed coffee mug (such as one you’d use for Irish Coffee). Add first four ingredients. Stir to mix. Top with whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a peppermint stick for the holidays.

Pumpkin Pie-Tini

Honey
Graham cracker crumbs
1 ounce milk
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 1/2 ounces Three-O Vanilla vodka
1 1/2 ounces crème de cacao
Using a small amount of honey, rim martini glass with graham cracker crumbs.Shake milk and pumpkin puree over ice to combine. Pour in remaining ingredients and shake well. Strain into the martini glass.

M&M's Wedding Weekend

I just got back from an amazing wedding in one of my favorite little towns Old Town Alexandria, VA. We couldn't have asked for better weather and a more romantic place to see two of my favorite people get married. They went with a very Autumn filled event with rich colors of yellows, auburns, reds and golds. The flower girls had baskets full of autumn leaves which added to the Fall feel. They had a bagpiper at the ceremony site to welcome the guest which was such a fun little detail.

I'm off to the East Coast next week for a wedding, but not just any wedding...it's my brother's! The wedding will be held at The Athenaeum in Old Town, Alexandria, VA. This building is full of such history, as much of Old Town is. It was built in 1851 and has such a romantic feel to it. The reception will be held at this fun chic hotel in Old Town called Hotel Monaco. Misty, the bride-to-be has amazing taste and has been planning this beautiful fall wedding for months...I can't wait to post all the fun little details.

With that said, you knew everything was going to be perfect down to the last little detail for Shalyce and Ian's big day, as Creative Celebrations does with all our events. I was reading Brenda's Wedding Blog and came across this posting. If your a bride in 2009 you might want to check this out to see the 2009 tends.

"Today's post is from Christina Demarco and she unveils the bridal fashion trends for 2009. It's time to say good-bye to A-line wedding gowns. 2009 brings new looks in bridal wear and Cristina DeMarco (Vice President and General Manager of Bridal Reflections in New York) shares with us what's hot in bridal styles that will suite even the most fashion forward and traditional brides."

1. Cap Sleeves: Keeping your shoulders covered may be favorable in some churches but it is also stylish, sophisticated, and sexy. "Cap sleeves show off a lot of skin while simultaneously keeping a sense of mystery by covering your shoulders," states DeMarco. Look for St. Pucchi for the best in this trend.

2. Soft-Ware: You'll see less and less bold hardware and beading on the gowns because the latest looks keep treatments subdued. "You'll see lots of delicate beading this year," she says. Gowns will still have intricate treatments but with a rich, fine look. Look for Ines Di Santo for the best in this trend.

3. Rich Fabric: It's all about the fabric this season from rich taffeta and delicate lace, to heavy silk. Choosing your fabric is just as important as the style and cut because it really brings your whole look together.

4. Cut: Sexy, low-cut backs are making their way down the aisle as are V-neck cuts in the front. "More and more brides are moving away from the strapless, A-line gown. Styles are evolving to help brides show off their best assets, whether that it their arms, neck, or back." Look for Ramona Keveza for the best in this trend.
